It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Elizabeth Jones (nee Fulton) on December 25th,2009, after a brief illness. She is survived by daughter Norma (Colin) Swainger of Calgary; son Boyd (Debbie) Jones of Outlook; grandchildren Andria Jones (Chris), Megan Jones (Trevor) and Darcy Jones (Dawn) and one great-granddaughter Presley McKenzie. She is also survived by brothers Terry Fulton and Tom (Sheila) Fulton; sister Muriel Hagerty and numerous nephews and nieces. Mary was born on a farm near Caronport, Sk. on January 23rd, 1925, the oldest of 5 children to Thomas and Jeannie Fulton. She moved to Moose Jaw with her parents, where she took her schooling. Mary worked at home to help with her younger siblings, then moved to Caronport to work at the training base. She then moved back to Moose Jaw to work as a cashier at Safeway, where she worked until she married her husband Archie, on January 20th,1954 and moved to the farm at Riverhurst. Mary was very active in the community as a Sunday School teacher at the United Church, singing in the choir and on the UCW, especially with the organizing of the Fowl Supper for many years. She was also leader for the Brownies and Guides. When Mary and Archie moved into town, she became involved with the Plus 50 Club and was treasurer for many years until she moved in to Moose Jaw in December 2008. Mary was predeceased by her husband Archie in 2001, baby daughter in 1956, father in 1970, mother in 1992, and sister Nana in 2005. A Celebration of Mary’s Life will be held on Thursday, December 31st,2009 at 11 a.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home.
