Surrounded by family and friends, at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Wednesday May 23 , 2012 of G. Wallace “Wally” Thompson aged 90 years, of Victoria Street, Kensington. Veteran of the Royal Canadian Army serving in Europe with the Essex Scottish Regiment of Canada. Born in Conway on January 21, 1922 the last surviving member of the late George R. and Catherine J. (Boyle) Thompson family. Husband of the late Ruth (Dalzell) Thompson. Father of Barry (Beverley), Don (Rhonda), Dean (Charlotte), Danny (Joanne) and Peter (Leila) Thompson. Grandfather to Jennifer Thompson, Stephanie (Patrick) Noonan, Melissa Thompson (Kevin Arthur), Jeffery Thompson, Kerrie Thompson, Dustin Thompson (Cy Hipolito), Tanya Thompson (Trevor LeClair), Amanda Thompson (David Murray), Susanne Thompson and Mitchell Thompson, great grandfather to Kaylee, Konnor and Gabrielle. Brother-in-law of Doris Paynter, Richard (Helen) Dalzell, Heather Dalzell and Allison Arsenault. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by daughter Judy Ann Thompson, brothers Louis and John “Jack” Thompson, sisters Lorena (late Bill) Morrison, and Betty Ann Thompson in infancy; father-in-law and mother-in-law Edson and Annie Florence (Larkin) Dalzell; brothers-in-law William, Robert, Reginald, Gardiner, David, George Dalzell and Elmer Paynter, sisters-in-law Louise Morgan, Eleanor (late John) Hamilton, June Randall, Edna (late Harold) Cotnam and Janet Arsenault. Resting at the Davison Funeral Home Kensington for visitation on Saturday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral Sunday in the Davison Funeral Home Chapel at 1:30 p.m. Interment in Kensington People’s Cemetery. If so desired contributions may be made to the Kensington People’s Cemetery Fund. Comrades of Lt. Col. E.W. Johnstone Branch # 9 Royal Canadian Legion, Kensington will hold a service of remembrance at the funeral home Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m. Brethren of Mount Zion Lodge # 12, Kensington will hold a Masonic memorial service in the funeral home chapel Saturday evening at 9 p.m.
