George Gill passed away at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009.
Born in Pinchard’s Island, N.L., he was the son of the late Sidney and Theresa Gill.
Before retirement, George worked for many years at Cape Breton Dairy. He was a member of the Golden K.
He is survived by his daughter, Gladys (Francis) MacKenzie, Bedford, N.S.; and son, David (Linda), Edmonton, Alta. Surviving also, are six grandchildren, Theodore, Elizabeth, Allison and Rachel MacKenzie and Sophia and Abbey Gill.
He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Shirley, a sister, Celie, and two brothers, Weston and Tom.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at The Church of Christ the King, Trinity Avenue, Sydney, Jan. 16, 2010, with Rev. Fred Rhymes officiating. A reception will follow in the parish hall. Committal will be held at Hardwood Hill Cemetery.
