
Gladys Langille
Gladys Robina Langille, 88, of Ivey’s Terrace Nursing Home, Trenton, and Scotsburn, passed away May 27, 2012 surrounded by her family in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Rockfield, Pictou County, she was second youngest of 12 daughters of the late George and Agnes Jane (Carson) Hislop.
A homemaker all her life, Gladys worked hard with her husband Andrew on the family farm. As well as mother to her own, she was also foster mother to numerous children. She loved her family and was always baking and cooking for them as well as neighbors and friends. She enjoyed quilting and knitting, and always had a baby set ready to go. She had a very strong faith and her life revolved around her church, Bethel Presbyterian in Scotsburn, where she was also a member of the Margaret MacNaughton A.M.S.
Gladys is survived by sons: George (Nancy), Melmerby Beach; Hugh (Marie), River John; Robert (Edna), Scotsburn; daughter, Mary (Allan) Fraser, Scotsburn; grandchildren: Brenda Smith, Ottawa; Andrew Langille, Stellarton; Leanne (Andre) Hendricken, Charlottetown; Kevin Fraser, Halifax; Helen (Chris Davis) Langille, Halifax; Heather Langille, Calgary; step-grandchildren: Brian Clark, River John; Steven Clark, Meadowville; Kevin (Heidi) Clark, High River, AB; great-grandchildren, Mason and Delaney Smith; sisters, Zelda Hansford, Yarmouth and Vesta Hislop, Scotsburn; many nieces and nephews.
Gladys was predeceased by her husband, Andrew; daughter, Helen; sisters: Annie, Georgie, Margaret, Irene, Ella, Janie, Drucella, Charlotte and Ethel.
Visitation will be held 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today (Tuesday) in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral will take place 2 p.m. Wednesday from Bethel Presbyterian Church, Scotsburn, with Rev. Lara Scholey officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery.
