NEW GLASGOW – William Huntley “Johnny†Walsh, age 80 of Frederick St., formerly of North Ave., New Glasgow, passed away December 25, 2009, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow he was a son of the late James and Theresa (Riley) Walsh.
Johnny had been a resident of New Glasgow all of his life. He was a well known musician having played the guitar and fiddle in bands such as Rusty Nails and Mountain Memories. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He is survived by his children, Theresa (Stephen) Farrell, New Glasgow; John Walsh, New Glasgow; grandchildren, Craig Walsh, Ryan and Candace Farrell, step-children, Sid Betts, Carolyn (Tim) Brennan and Julia Freeman, several nieces and nephew, sister-in law, Mary Alice Walsh, and by a special friend Dorothy Gratto, Trenton.
He was predeceased by his wife, Gertrude (Pitts) Walsh, sister, Mary (Walsh) MacPhee and brothers, Donald, James.
His remains will, rest in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday from where funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday with Rev. Leon Teal officiating. Cremation will follow.
