Age 67 of Brigus, passed away on December 26, 2009 at Carbonear Hospital after a brief illness. Max was born October 5, 1942 in St. John’s, the eldest son of Cecil and Marion King of Portugal Cove. He had a long career as an educator, spending over 20 years at Brigus Academy, most of this period as principal. After retiring from teaching, Max enjoyed 18 years with his family and working in his garden. Max was also well known through his avocation, enjoying over 30 years as operator of King Music. Left to mourn are his wife Dale (nee Menchions); children: Tony (Diane, Matthew and Martha), Angela (Glenn, Sarah, Rebecca and Emma), Maxwell (JoAnne, Melissa, Robyn and Maxwell), and Stephen (Adam, Benjamin, Spencer and Noah); mother of children: Doris (nee Jones); and step-children: Dana (Andrew, Colleen and Brooke) and Brian; Aunt: Alice Janes; Sister: Gloria (Fred); Brother: Len (Elaine). Viewing will be from 2 to 10 p.m. Sunday, December 27, and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday, December 28. The funeral service will take place at Brigus United Church, Tuesday, December 29 at 2 p.m., with cremation to follow. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations made to the Janeway Hospital.
