Neta Kay-Hicks
KAY-HICKS, NETA JANE - 1921 - 2012 - The death of Neta Jane Kay-Hicks, 90, of Sunset Village, Moncton and formerly of Sackville occurred at the Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, May 30, 2012. Born in New Bandon, NB, Neta was a daughter of the late Arthur and Reta (Jagoe) Smith. Neta was a member of Salem Baptist Church and a very active participant within it. She had worked as a cook at Marshlands Inn from 15 years of age until her retirement. Neta will be sadly missed by a daughter, Marney (Norvel) Tower, Sackville; three sons, Gary (Valerie) Kay, Toledo, ON, Fraser (Dawn) Kay, Saint John, and Kingsley (Doreen) Kay, Moncton; seven grandchildren, Rhonda, Kevin, Tanya, Jason, Jonathan, Melissa, and Tony; several great and great-great grandchildren. As well, she will be missed by two sisters, Leona Smith and Betty (William) MIller; and three brothers, Hales (Dot) Smith, Arthur (Melba) Smith and Harry (Timmie) Smith. Besides her parents, Neta was predeceased by her first husband Irvin Kay 1985 and by her second husband John Hicks in 2002; as well as a brother, Harper and sisters Shirley Ayer, Twila Ayer, and Rhoda Scott.
Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville, NB (506-364-1300). Visitation will be held from 12 to 2 pm at the Salem Baptist Church, 234 Main Street, Sackville on Friday, June 1, 2012 followed immediately by a funeral service at 2 pm. Pastor Morris MIlls officiating. Following the service, Neta will be laid to rest in the Four Corners Cemetery.
