It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Jacqueline Delores Brown, age 74, on Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at the Northside General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Hamilton, Ont., June 15, 1935, Jackie was the daughter of the late Jack and Katherine (Burke) Allister.
She could always be found on her front step enjoying the neighbourhood. She loved to have company and chat and enjoy her flowers. She had a special love for all her pets. Jackie had a heart of gold and loved her family unconditionally. Although she became a true Cape Bretoner at heart, she still had a special connection with all of her family still residing in Ontario
Jackie is survived by her former husband and friend, Leo Joseph Brown (Sharon); her children, Leo (Lucy) Brown, Boularderie East, Wayne (Darlene) Brown, North Sydney, Linda Brown (Shane), Alberta, Carol (Glenn) Brown-MacKinnon, Sydney Mines, Janice Brown, Alberta, Jeff (Kim) Brown, North Sydney, Greg (Michelle) Brown, Florence; her grandchildren, Steven, Derek, Jeffrey, Nicole, Sam and Jack and great-grandchildren, Alexis and Soleil. Also surviving is her sister, Shirley Wells, Ontario; and her nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Jackie was predeceased by a son, Darren.
Visitation for Jackie will be held Wednesday (today) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Attwood officiating. Burial to take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
