Joseph William Bagnell passed away peacefully at Cape Breton Regional Hospital palliative care unit, Sydney, on Dec. 24, 2009.
Born in Louisbourg, he was the son of the late Joseph Albert Bagnell and Mary Margaret (MacRury) Bagnell.
He worked 28 years with S&L Railway and Devco, then he became a full-time fisherman.
Survived by his wife, Jean (MacVicar) Bagnell; sons, Kevin, Parker (Suzanne), Tim (Fonia); daughters, Cheryl, Lisa (Bernie); grandchildren, Audrey, Victor, Rebecca, Jessica, Sophie, Clifton and Matthew; sister, Mabel Hanham; sister-in-law Serella Bagnell. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Joseph was also predeceased by his son, Brent Alan, grandson, Aiden, brother, Weldon, sisters, Florence and Christine (husband Robert Rendall), brother-in-law, Daniel Hanham.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at First United Church, Louisbourg, N.S. The service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 4, 2010. Interment will be at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens in the Christus Garden.
