BUYDENS, Theresa (Hatfield)– Passed peacefully away in Courtenay, B.C., after a 5 month battle with cancer, May 18, 1941 - May 25, 2012, a week after her 71st birthday. Predeceased by parents Alice and Lar Hatfield, son Walter Palylyk (2010), also brothers Ben (2011), Larry (2002) and nephew Andrew Hatfield (2000). She leaves to mourn loving and caring husband Dick, step-daughter Sheron, B.C. and David, B.C; also her loving granddaughter Melissa and great-grandson Jaidyn (age 5); step-son Brian and Bradley Palylyk in B.C. She also leaves to mourn sister Mary (Harry Brown, deceased), Paradise; Betty (Don Thompson), Mississauga; Anna (Rudi Messerer), Mississauga; her twin sister Vicki (Dave Edison), Mt. Pearl; Billy (Marg), Nepean, ON and Bonny (Dave Price), St. John’s; sisters-in-law Joan and Peg Hatfield. Theresa and her twin sister Vicki reflected on the phone every day sharing comforting stories, old and new and especially about their favourite hockey teams - Vancouver Canucks and St. John’s Ice Caps. Lots of laughter was shared, as well as tears. She refused family & friends to visit her - she wanted to be remembered when she was well and looked her beautiful self. She leaves behind many nephews and nieces, cousins and friends world-wide. Funeral Service from Comox Valley Funeral Home Saturday, June 2, 10 a.m. At Theresa’s wishes, she was cremated and will be brought to her final resting place in Prince George, B.C. to be with her son Walter. A memorial service here in Newfoundland at a later date.
