Born In: Fort St John, British Columbia, Canada
Born: November 1st, 1978
Passed in: Fort St John, British Columbia, Canada
Passed on: May 11th, 2012
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our cherished Holly on May 11, 2012. Born on November 1, 1978 in Fort St John BC, Holly fought hard against stomach cancer for ten months with both tenacity and grace. She is survived by her beloved Sterling Roberts, her mother Carol, father Jay, stepmother Leah, sister Heather, brother Heath, grandmother Evyline, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. And of course, her two quirky cats, Bob and Bella.
Holly was born and raised in Fort St. John, BC. She
attended Baldonnel Elementary, Dr Kearney Jr. High and
graduated NPSS in 1996. Always a dedicated and
accomplished student, Holly was awarded the Principal’s Honours list for four consecutive years. She then moved to Ottawa where she graduated with honors from Carleton University in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a minor in mathematics, a fact that was made much fun of when she displayed her complete
inability to count in cribbage.
Holly moved to Prince George, BC in July of 2004 to be with her precious Sterling. In her later years, Holly worked at the Northern Development Initiative Trust, to which she and Sterling are ever grateful to Janine North and the team for their unwavering friendship and support during her illness.
Holly wished to be remembered as a goofy girl, always ready with an inappropriate joke or
amusing anecdote. Holly felt she’d done her job if she was able to make someone laugh or smile. Holly was not religious, but she did believe in reincarnation, and if she was right, she’ll be
watching out for those she loved until they join her someday, and then everyone can come back together for another “go around on the merry go round”.
Holly will be remembered by friends and family as the most voracious reader, with a never-
ending supply of “did you know” stories, a quirky spirit who always had a song in her heart, and for her entire all-too-short life, putting others first. She was one-of-a-kind, an original good old soul who will never be forgotten.
“So Long and Thanks for all the Fish...”
Sterling and Holly’s family would like to especially thank Holly’s oncologist, Dr. Suresh Katakkar, her GP, Dr. Bert Kelly and all the nurses at the Northern Cancer Centre in Prince George for their loving care throughout her ordeal.
A celebration of Holly’s life will be held this Sunday, May 20th, from 11:00 am to 2:00pm at the Baldonnel Elementary School.
