JIM LEES

Born In: British Columbia, Canada

Passed in: British Columbia, Canada

A Celebration of Life for JIM LEES Will be held at the Union Hall on Lansdowne, Thursday, February 7th at 5:30pm Jim was predeceased by his sister, brother and his mother. He grew up in Victoria, B.C. as somewhat of a 'wild child'. He leaves a loving partner, many good friends and an extended family to grieve and remember him. As youths, both Jim and his brother John played the violin and were very good, enough so that they both were in the symphony. As a youngster he worked picking berries in the summer and also at a stamp and coin store where he developed and pursued a lifelong interest in stamp collecting. He worked at the Post Office for a time, then at a Shingle Shake Mill on the Guillotine. Eventually Jim decided to move to Nelson where he worked on the tugs for Kootenay Forest Products. He also was in the Volunteer Firefighters there. After a bout with double pneumonia he decided to do something different. He had observed how the Millwrights had a lot of freedom on the job and wanted to do that. He educated himself and was very proud of his marks. With ticket in hand he came to Kamloops to apprentice and got a job at the mine. Eventually he secured a position at the Weyco Pulp Mill where he worked until his death. Jim wanted everyone to know that their love and support during his illness was appreciated. He was always amazed at the way everyone stuck by him through all these months, the calls, the visits, the prayers - they never stopped and it meant the world to him! It was humbling. He also wanted to thank his health care teams in both Kamloops and Kelowna Hospitals for the excellent care he received. A special heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Kamloops Hospice whose gentle and loving care helped to make his passing dignified, peaceful and pain free. So remember him not with tears but the laughter, remember the clown! So now we all have another Angel in Heaven to watch over us.
