EILEEN SOPHIE McVEY March 16, 1939 - January 27, 2008 It is with deep†sadness that we announce the passing of†our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and friend on January 27, 2008, with her family by her side. Eileen was lovingly surrounded by her family and friends since entering the Hospital/Hospice in Kelowna on October 18, 2007, but she grew very tired after putting up a valiant 2.5 year fight to overcome cancer. Mom tried so hard to keep a smile on her beautiful face and never complained, she fought this terrible disease with grace†and dignity and†also†made time for those close to her to say their good-byes. She is survived by her loving husband Peter and her beloved children Randy Lorenz (Marion) of Saskatoon and Pamela (Stuart) Allen of Kamloops. Eileen also leaves to cherish her memory five grandsons: Joshua and Jesse Lorenz, Evan, Jordon (Carmeen) and Brenden Angel and two granddaughters: Robyn and Jocelyn Allen. She is also survived by her dear mother Tania Gulkiewich of Kelowna and her brothers Ernie (Jeanine) Gulkiewich of Westbank, George (Joanne) Gulkiewich of Delta, brother-in-law George McVey of Vancouver, her best friend Marnie Gawhens of Kamloops as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Eileen was predeceased by her stepdaughter Debbie McVey in 2006, her father Anthony Gulkiewich in 1993 and her first husband Randy Lorenz Sr. in 1977. A Memorial to celebrate Eileen's Life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at the Merritt Golf and Country Club, 1450 Juniper Drive, Merritt, BC. A special thank-you to all the Doctors and nurses in Merritt, Kamloops and Kelowna and especially those of the "Douglas Fir Hospice House", for their compassion and understanding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the "Holding Hands for Hospice Campaign", #202-1456 St. Paul Street, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 2E6 in Eileen's name. On-line condolences may be email to: pamallen@shaw.ca If tears could build a stairway, And memories a lane, We'd walk right up to Heaven And bring you home again.
