KOHLMAN (nee CARTER) 1923 - 2008 Phyllis Kathleen Kohlman passed away peacefully on February 16, 2008 at Overlander Extended Care. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 40 years Edmond, parents Jack & Kathleen Carter, brother & sister-in-law Gordon & Blanche Carter and numerous other close relatives. Left to cherish many wonderful memories are her son Larry (Debi) Kohlman, grandchildren Mike Kohlman & Tanya (Garth) Neibrandt, great grandchildren Justis Kohlman & Natiya Neibrandt, and her many relatives and friends (too extensive to list) whose hearts she touched. Phyl was born in Penticton on January 12, 1923, married Ed Kohlman in 1943, was one of eight women who worked on the Kettle Valley Railway in Penticton in 1943 and were nicknamed the "Gandy Dancers" as there was a shortage of men available during the war years. She also worked in a packing house, was treasurer for the Rebekah Lodge, wrote a regular article for the newspaper for bowling called "Write Up My Lane", and was very active in the Senior's Club volunteering many hours until it got too much for her. She loved to play crib (and win!) as well as bingo. Many thanks to the Home Care Nurses who came a lot of years to help, the staff at Greenfield Place, Ponderosa & Overlander and the special people that went out of their way for Phyl. By request there will be no formal service, but a celebration of Phyl's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 24th, 2008 at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Banquet Room, 755 Tranquille Road, Kamloops. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Kamloops. Arrangements for cremation made by Kamloops Funeral Home, Ph. 554-2577.
