Passed in: British Columbia, Canada

BILL GARDINER Hubert William "Bill" Gardiner passed away on February 21, 2008 after a short stay at Overlander Extended Care in Kamloops. Bill is survived by his loving son Les (Vera Lynn) of Kimberley, daughter Wendy (Bob) Watt of Lone Butte; two sisters Betty Heron and Irene Passmore, both of Kamloops; brother in-law Bill (Norma) Nelson of Darfield, as well as five grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his wife Lily in March 2007, parents Les and Pearl Gardiner, and sister Frances Brook. Born in 1929 at Monte Lake, Bill ventured to Alberta at an early age to find work but soon returned home to Barnhartvale to help his dad with farming and logging. Shortly after marrying Lily (nee Nelson), they settled in North Kamloops where they raised two children. A very knowledgeable mechanic, Bill worked for various companies in the Kamloops area, finally retiring from forestry, another love of his. An avid reader, he thrived to gain knowledge or figure out problems. To spend time at the "Homestead" at Robbins Range was both peaceful and memory filled. The Funeral Service in Bill's memory will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1st, 2008 in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Dan Hines officiating. Following the service, Bill will be laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery. Donations in Bill's memory may be made to the charity of your choice, flowers gratefully declined.
