Born In: British Columbia, Canada

Passed in: British Columbia, Canada

ESTHER LUELLA KIMMEL 1916 - 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce that Esther Kimmel passed away on March 7, 2008 after a brief illness. She was born on December 13, 1916 in Winkler, Manitoba, but was adopted by Ertman and Mathilde Montie from Yorkton, Saskatchewan, when she was three years old. She had a very happy childhood and was very involved in sports at school. She married Adolf Kimmel in 1935, moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba and had two children, Herb and Ruth. In 1948 the family moved to B.C. and lived in Chilliwack, Vancouver and then back to Chilliwack for several years until the kids were out of high school. Then Adolf and Esther moved back to Vancouver, Tungsten, NWT and retired to Sardis. Her daughter, Ruth Ledig, died in 1982. In 1987, Mom lost her husband of 52 years and moved to Kamloops to be near her son, Herb. She lived in Silver Threads for a number of years and finally moved to Bedford Manor for the last 2 years of her life. She leaves to mourn: her son Herb (Phyllis), four grandchildren: Steven (Deb) Ledig, Jon Ledig, Karen (Todd) Clark, and Kathy Kimmel. Her grandson Bryan Kimmel, died in 1997. She had six great grandchildren: Riley and Jessie Ledig, Jordan and Aaron Ledig and Cody and Tyler Clark all in Alberta. Mom had a quiet life dedicated to hardwork and love for her family and friends but also had her share of trials and tribulations. The family would like to thank Dr. Ron Oyler and Marla for the care they gave to Mom since she moved to Kamloops and especially like to thank the staff at Bedford Manor for the love, attention and care they gave Mom for the last 2 years. If friends so desire give a loved one some flowers in Esther's name. No service by request
