SEAFOAM – Della Margaret Henderson, 90, Seafoam, passed away peacefully in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow on Wednesday, December 30, 2009.
She was the daughter of Charles and Dolrose (Dillon) Findlay and the adopted daughter of Gordon and Margaret MacKenzie, Waterside.
Della was a gifted artist and enjoyed playing the piano, but her family was her greatest joy in life. She looked forward to preparing home cooked meals for any family gathering or visit. Always involved with her community, Della was, for many years a 4H leader and Sunday school teacher. She was a lifelong member of the Ladies Aid as well as the Women’s Missionary Society. Many hours were dedicated to sewing quilts, knitting and baking to raise monies to help the less fortunate. She was a faithful member of St. David’s Presbyterian Church, Toney River.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Wilbert Henderson; daughters, Rhoda (Roy) Byrne, Mona (Jim) MacDonald; sons, Cairns (Celeste), Keith (Kathy); grandchildren: Jane, Karri Ann, Naomi, Michael, Mark, Lorne, Duncan, Kelli, Rana and Gordon; great-grandchildren: Kassidy, Devon, Aleeya, Maddy, Makayla, Alana, Lena, Wyatt, Hannah and Alexis; sister, Betty Hanam.
She was predeceased by brothers: Donald MacKenzie, Charles Gratto, Russell and Daniel Findlay; sister, Margaret Patton.
Visitation will be held (today) Thursday, Dec. 31 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at St. David’s Presbyterian Church, Toney River. Funeral service will be Friday, January 1 at 11 a.m. at St. David’s Presbyterian Church.
