JOHNSON 1917 ~ 2008 Raymond passed away peacefully at the Hamlets in Westsyde, a care facility, in Kamloops, B.C. on March 27, 2008. Raymond is survived by his loving granddaughter Dennise Stewart, grandson Dennis Forster, great grandchildren, Cody, Jennica and Alycia, one brother-in-law Doug (Polly) Renstrom of Cranbrook and one sister-in-law Lennie Renstrom of Victoria, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Isabell Johnson, daughter Darlene Forster, brothers Fritz and Bill Johnson, sister Astrid Rice and their respective spouses. Raymond was born in Jaffray, B.C. on January 20, 1917, and fourth child of Gust and Ida Johnson. He grew up in Jaffray. He met and married Isabell on August 16, 1942. Raymond and Isabell lived in Jaffray for 54 years and of 54 years, 51 years were spent living in the house that Raymond built himself. Raymond worked all of his life in the sawmill industry, and 37 of those years at the Galloway Lumber Mill in Galloway, B.C. Raymond spent many hours in his garage/workshop "tinkering". During retirement Raymond and Isabell enjoyed many bus tours throughout Canada and USA. Raymond and Isabell moved to Kamloops in 1996, enjoying time spent with their grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family would like to extend special thanks to the caring staff at the Hamlets in Westsyde and the Shores Retirement Residence. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in memory of Raymond to the Canadian Cancer Society, 111-450 Lansdowne Street, Kamloops, B.C. V2C 2B2. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 4, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel, 285 Fortune Drive.
