THOMAS ANTHONY DOHM The Honourable Thomas Anthony "Tom" Dohm, C.M., O.B.C., LL.B., Q.C., LL.D. was born October 9, 1916. He died at home on the evening of April 1, 2008. Predeceased by his wife, Faith, he is survived by his sister Rubella and his brothers, Martin, Patrick, and Mike; his nine children, Louis, Larry, Rosanne, Tony, Terri, Barney, Chris, Faith-Anne, and Gioia; eighteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. During a legal career that spanned six decades, he served with distinction as one of B.C.'s foremost defense counsels, as a prosecutor and magistrate for the City of Vancouver, and as a Justice of the Supreme Court of British Columbia. He was an active leader in the community, serving as a member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board, director of the Vancouver Civic Non-Partisan Association, co-chair of the Canadian Council of Christians and Jews, Honorary President of the Confratallenza Italo-Canadese Association, and president of the Vancouver Stock Exchange. He also spent thirteen years as chair and member of the St. Vincent's Hospital Board of Directors and eight years as chair and member of the University of British Columbia Board of Governors. He established several scholarships and bursaries at Capilano College, the University of British Columbia, and the University of Victoria, including a scholarship for Aboriginal law students and a bursary for disabled students. He was appointed as a Queen's Counsel, and received both the Order of Canada and the Order of British Columbia. A man of great intellect and generosity, he will be lovingly remembered for his dedication to his family and his community. His family extends their special thanks to Anielyn Bernados, Roselyn Padua, Yvonne Fabre, JudeLyn Fresco, and Eden Andres, whose loving care made it possible for Tom to remain in his home. Funeral Mass: Saturday, April 12th, 2008 at 10 A.M., St. John the Apostle Church, 5457 Trafalgar Street, Vancouver, B.C. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the B.C. Lions/Easter Seal Society for Children with Disabilities, 3981 Oak Street, Vancouver, B. C., V6H 4H5
