BEAUCHAMP May 6, 1928 - April 3, 2008 With a great sense of loss, the Beauchamp family would like to announce the passing of Armand Lucien Octavien Beauchamp at the Hamlets Extended Care Home on April 3, 2008. His family was blessed to be in his presence at the time of his passing. Armand is survived by his loving wife Kathleen, his seven sons and two daughters. Rick (Chris) of North Vancouver, Ian (Julianne) of Penticton, Dan (Laureen) of Calgary, Debbi of Kamloops, Len (Marcy) of Kamloops, Laurie (Sylvain) of Kamloops, Dale (Jodi) of Richmond, Kelly (Lynda) of Kamloops and Jamie (Deena) of South Slocan. He was most proud of his 15 grandchildren: Jill Elliott (Kris), Leah, Haley, Michelle, Monique Monteiro (Tiago), Luc, Jenelle Ottoson (Calvin), Katee, Liane, Rachel, Devin, Chloe, Brady, Jenna, Abby and one great granddaughter, Liv Elliott. Also left to mourn his loss are his siblings: Yvonne Casavant (Albert), Marcel (Colette), Alcide, Irene Villeneuve (Louis), Robert (Henrietta), Paul (Rose) and his two aunts: Babe Genest, Louise Shaw. He was predeceased by his parents: Lucien and Edith Beauchamp, his first wife Belinda and his sister Lea. He treasured his longtime friendships with Lou & Betty Etcheverry and Andy Melnychuk. Armand was born in Edmonton, Alberta and during his younger years the family resided in Edmonton, Clyde, and the homestead in Kathleen, AB. He completed his high school education at St. Joe's College in Edmonton. He was recruited to play on the Westlock Men's Hockey Team and he was also responsible for the maintenance of the outdoor rink. He began his apprenticeship as a mechanic at Doherty's Garage and received his Mechanic's License from SAIT in Calgary. Armand enjoyed his community involvement as a hockey coach and a volunteer with the Westlock Fire Department, eventually becoming the Assistant Chief. His dream of living in British Columbia was realized in 1964 when Armand obtained employment with Syd Smith's and moved his family to Kamloops. His career as a mechanic lasted for 38 years. His love of gardening was further fulfilled with his employment as a grounds keeper at Southill Manor and Ponderosa Lodge. A job opportunity arose at Cariboo College and he was employed as an evening custodian until his retirement in 1995. Armand immensely enjoyed his lifestyle in BC. He spent countless hours camping and driving the boat while teaching his children to water ski on the Shuswap Lake. His love of sports was relived through watching his children in various sporting activities. He took pride in maintaining his manicured lawn, bountiful garden, tools and immaculate vehicles. Prayers will be recited on Friday, April 11 at 7:00 pm at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 635 Tranquille Road. Mass of Christian Burial will be con celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 12 at the church with Msgr. John MacIntyre and Father Peter Hoan Nguyen. Reception will follow in the Parish Centre.
