James J. Schuurman June 26, 1933 - April 24, 2008 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father & grandfather. Jim was born in Edmonton to Daisy & Joe Schuurman. He received most of his education in Edmonton but was in Halifax during the war years. He loved participating in sports, playing high school football, and Junior football with the Wildcats. He spent his working years in the Oilfields, construction in sales and management, and 3 years farming in Alberta. Jim and Mary retired to Bridge Lake where they spent 7 happy years cross country skiing, fishing, canoeing & hiking. In 1992 they moved to Chase where tennis, golf & bridge became Jim's passion. He leaves to mourn Mary, his wife of 52 years, sons Doug (Kim) and Kevin (Gwen), and beloved granddaughters Alexandra and Chelsea; one sister, Margaret, and his many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and his soulmate, cousin Jack. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 2nd at 1:00 p.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Chase. Flowers gratefully declined, but if desired, donations may be made to the RIH Foundation (Cancer)
