Louis Daniel "Lou" Mcginn

Louis Daniel "Lou" McGinn, 77, Dartmouth. It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our devoted husband, father and grandfather on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008, in the Halifax Infirmary, QE II. Born in Charlottetown, he was a son of the late Daniel and Agnes (Callaghan) McGinn. Raised in Emyvale, P.E.I., Lou was a proud graduate of Saint Dunstan's University, Charlottetown (Class of 1954). He went on to a 37-year career with the Royal Bank of Canada working in various communities in Atlantic Canada. He was involved with several service organizations including the Lion's Club, Rotary Club, St. Thomas More Council of Catholic Men and in later years he was an active member of the Prostate Cancer Support Group. Lou enjoyed gardening and refinishing antique furniture and later years developed a love of travel, including summers in Kensington, P.E.I. His most special times were spent with his three beloved grandchildren. Lou is survived by his wife and best friend of 51 years, Joyce (Mullally); daughters Deborah (Daniel) Norris, Dartmouth, Kim McGinn, Lower Sackville, Marilou (Brian) Drew, Dartmouth; grandchildren Aidan, Ella and Evan Drew; brother Leo (Isabelle), Kelowna, B.C., Brendon (Joan), Charlottetown, P.E.I.; sisters Dorothy (James) Tierney, Oakville, Ont., Shirley McGinn, Charlottetown, P.E.I., Patricia McInnis, Winnipeg, Man., Marion Myers, Burnaby, B.C., and Katherine (Don) MacCormac, Charlottetown, P.E.I.; and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. He was predeceased by brother, Damien; sister, Rita McGinn and brothers-in-law, Russell McInnis and Douglas Myers. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. Funeral service to be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, in St. Thomas More Parish with a reception to follow in the church hall. A memorial service will take place 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3, at Church of the Holy Family, Kensington, P.E.I. Interment to take place at Indian River Cemetery, Indian River, P.E.I., with a reception to follow in the Murray Christian Centre, Kensington, P.E.I.
