Ian Stewart

STEWART, IAN DONALD "BUMP" - 1948 - 2012 - On Sunday, June 24th, 2012 Ian Donald Stewart, 64, of Riverside-Albert passed away surrounded by his loving family at the Dr.Georges-L. Dumont Hospital in Moncton. He was born on February 25th, 1948, the son of the late Donald and Mary (Russell) Stewart. Ian grew up in Hopewell Hill, NB and on July, 1965 he married his best friend, Myrna (Elliott). Ian and Myrna lived in Riverside-Albert as well loved members of the community throughout their entire married life. A hard and dedicated worker, Ian held many different positions throughout his career. He was a mechanic by trade, and from 1980 to 1985 Ian and Myrna successfully ran Ian's Service Center on Coverdale Road in Riverview where he made many life-long friendships. From 1985 to 1998 Ian worked at Fundy National Park as Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor. Ian was a true outdoorsman and loved the great outdoors, both land and Sea. Ian crossed another dream off his bucket list when he became the Captain of the Minas Mist, fishing lobster in the bay of Fundy. For the past fifteen years, Ian has been a farmer of New Brunswick wild blueberries, anticipating each season with passion. After retiring from lobster fishing in 2003 Ian and Myrna purchased a winter vacation home in St. Petersburg, Florida, where they made many friends from all over the globe and created many happy memories as snowbirds. Ian enjoyed hunting, fishing and working the land, he was admired by all who know him, and was a favorite with children and animals. However, Ian's main priority was his family, he cherished his wife, daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter and especially the newest member of the family, his great-granddaughter, who had him wrapped around her little finger. Ian was a man who always had a smile and a hello for everyone he met, he loved to tease and joke around you could often see a twinkle in his eye. He lived life to the fullest. He would want all his friends to surround his girls and take care of them, remember the good times and be reassured by the fact he is now with his son, Todd. "What We Keep In Memory Is Ours, Unchanged Forever." He will be deeply missed by his caring and devoted wife, Myrna; daughter, Peggy O'Connor (Hartley) of Hopewell Cape, his beloved granddaughter, Brandy O'Connor (Patrick Woodworth), his cherished great-granddaughter, Sofia Ann Woodworth all of Woodworth Settlement; his brothers, William "Billy" Stewart of Woodworth Settlement, Stephen Stewart (Lynda Morgan) of Oshawa, ON and Jerry Stewart (Pat Shannon) of Madoc, ON. Ian will also be sadly missed by his sisters-in-law, Rena Bleakney (Carl) of Riverside-Albert and brother-in-law, Francis Edgett of Moncton; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends and every child that ever spent quality time with him. No one else will ever fill those big shoes in the lives of those who loved him. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his beloved son, Todd in 1991, Myrna's parents Fred and Georgie Elliott and sister-in-law, Greta Edgett, and Marion Stewart.
