In Loving Memory of Phyllis Allen (nee Keith) February 17, 1911 - April 21, 2008 On April 21st, 2008 our much beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully at Pine Grove Lodge at the age of 97 years. She will be remembered by her daughters Gloria (Mickey) Martino, Linda (Rodney) Arthur and daughter-in-law Sylvia Allen. Also left to cherish her memory are her ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Her husband Norman; son David and great grandson Zachary predeceased her. Phyllis was born in Vancouver and moved to Kamloops in her late teens for health reasons. She worked as a telephone operator for several years and then she met Norman whom she married in November 1933. Together they raised their three children in the house they built on Pine Street and the house is still a part of the family. In earlier years Phyllis enjoyed golfing and curling but her greatest love was having family time at the cottage on Shuswap Lake. In her latter years she enjoyed going to the senior's swim every day at the YMCA, which she did well into her late 80's and early 90's. When she was 96 she moved into Pine Grove Lodge where she spent the balance of her life. This became her home and the residents and caregivers became her extended family. It is with great gratitude that we thank the Pine Grove staff, nurses and caregivers for all the loving concern they showed for our mother. A Memorial Tea will be held on Friday, May 9th, 2008 from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. at Pine Grove Lodge, 313 McGowan Ave. Phyllis will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. In the summer, a family gathering will take place to celebrate the lives of Phyllis and Norman.
