Bertha Agnes (Peggy) Murray

Born In: British Columbia, Canada

Passed in: British Columbia, Canada

Bertha Agnes (Peggy) Murray March 9, 1919 - May 5, 2008 While in the embrace of her daughters, Peggy's spirit returned to the Creator on the wings of angels. Now, she is dancing and singing again to the Big Band music that she loved so well. Peggy was born in Balcarres, Saskatchewan and her large family survived the Great Depression by working their farm. When she left Saskatchewan, she lived in several places: Hamilton, Ontario, Kimberley, B.C., and Victoria, B.C. during the war years but later settled for over 50 years in Vancouver, B.C. In 2000 she moved to Kamloops at the urging of family. Peggy was predeceased by her two husbands; Wesley Passmore and James Murray. Throughout her life, Peggy always gave of herself to those who needed comfort, assistance and a guiding hand. She did volunteer work up until her 80th year in the Vancouver school system and at Ronald MacDonald House in Vancouver. She loved animals, music, gardens, and cooking but was happiest in the company of children. Her devotion in this regard saw her nurture six of her own and we, as well as our children and their children, will miss her profoundly. Peggy is survived by her loving daughters Evelyn Warren (Gerald), Katharine Rodman (Lyle), Fairleigh Murray, Janice Bradley (John), and Sheridan Murray. Peggy is also survived by her loving son James Murray (Nada). Many grandchildren will miss Peggy's hugs; Sheila Irving (Gordon), Matthew Rollo (Lisa), John Bradley (Lori), Taylor Bradley (Heidi) and Dylan Murray. Great-grandchildren Derick Revane, Adrienne Revane, Steven Irving, Nicolas Bradley and Graem Bradley as well as one great-great-grandson Braedon Revane-Parr will always have another guardian angel to watch over them. Many family pets will miss her gentle hands, loving smile and her pure delight at their antics. We want to take this opportunity to send our warmest affection to the staff and residents at Overlander, South Park for the tremendous love they shared and the compassionate care that Peggy received since December 2003. Words cannot express our gratitude for the support and kindness you always extended to us as we became a daily part of the Overlander family. You all will be forever in our hearts. We also want to thank Reverend Ray Parker for the comfort he provided to us during the final hour of our Mother's life. We are certain his words helped our Mother find her path to the stars and gently bring us to accept it was time to share her with the rest of the heavens. Peggy's devotion to her family really defined "love", "humility" and "selflessness". It was her request that her passing remain a very private time for family to come together in remembrance. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimer's Association may be made in Peggy's name. On-line condolences may be expressed at www.schoenings.com Cremation arrangements entrusted to Schoening Funeral Service, Kamloops, telephone 250-374-1454
