ASHBEE On May 2, 2008 Mr. John Stanley Ashbee passed away at the Overlander Extended Care Hospital at the age of 84 years. He is lovingly remembered by his sons, Stan (Doris) of Kamloops, Doug (Randi) and Shawn (Cathy) both of Victoria; his grandchildren Matthew, Amanda and Liam and great grandson Hayden. Also left to cherish his memory are his two brothers Ron (May) of Brandon, Manitoba and Cliff (Adelle) of Kamloops. John was predeceased by his wife Margaret in 1986, his son Terry in 1960, brother Les and sisters Gladys, Opal and Cora. John was born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan on June 13, 1923. He grew up in Shell Lake, Saskatchewan. John served overseas in England and Italy with the Canadian Army during World War II. He married Margaret in Kamloops in 1948 and together they had four sons. John worked as a trainman/conductor for 36 years with the CNR and retired in 1986. John will be remembered as a kind and gentle man with a generous heart. John's family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all those who lovingly cared for him during his struggle with Alzheimer's, especially to the staff of Blueberry Lane and to Dr. Oyler. Friends are welcome to the Graveside Service on Friday, May 16, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Hillside Cemetery, Kamloops. A Celebration of John's Life will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in the Calvary Community Church with Pastor Don Maione officiating.
