53 years, Cape Broyle — Passed away peacefully Saturday, January 2, 2010, surrounded by loved ones after a long and brave battle with cancer, that impressed upon others his strong will and determination. Predeceased by his parents, Charlie and Madonna (nee Perry) O’Brien. Left behind to mourn his passing and to honour his life: Daughter Candace (Frank), Vancouver, B.C.; son Christopher (Shannon), St. John’s and Sandy, mother to his children, Cape Broyle. He will be sadly missed by his sister Aggie Walsh (John,deceased),who lovingly took Gussie into her home in his time of greatest need. Also mourning the loss of Gussie, his siblings: Sheila Kelly (Bill); Florie Hayden (Dermie); Marion Sturge (Randy); Linda O’Brien (Robin,deceased); Rosie Hawkins (Donny); Davie O’Brien (Carol); Stevie O’Brien (Pam); Waltie O’Brien (Joclyn) and many cousins, nieces, nephews and a large community of friends and neighbours. Gussie was a hard working man and a loving father who enjoyed to laugh and dance. Our hearts are broken and he will be sorrowfully missed by all his family and friends, who will cherish their many great memories of him. Resting at Fahey’s Funeral Home, Fermeuse. Visitation Sunday, January 3 and Monday, January 4, from 2 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to take place at Immaculate Conception Church, Cape Broyle on Tuesday, January 5 at 11 a.m. Interment at Our Lady of the Cape Cemetery, Cape Broyle to follow.
