Miller Stapleton
WESTVILLE – Miller Irving Stapleton, 76, passed away Friday, June 29, 2012 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow, he was the son of the late William H. and Hazel V. (Zinck) Stapleton.
Miller served 25 years with 1st Regiment, Royal Canadian Horse Artillery in Winnipeg, MN, Germany and Oromocto, NB. After he left the armed forces, he taught Militia in Pictou NS.
He was a member of St. Paul United Church, Westville; the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 16, Pictou, NS; the Pictou County Antique Car Club and the Nova Scotia Mustang Club.
Miller will be sadly missed by his wife of 54 years, T. Harriet (Corbett); sons, Michael I. (Vera), Sydney, NS; W. Robert, at home; daughter, Victoria L. Burton (Russell) Westville; granddaughter, Rebecca MacCallum (Cory) Salisbury, NB
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, William, and Robert Stapleton and sister, Grace Jenkins, and grandson, Joshua J. Boudreau.
His family would like to extend a special "thank you" to Dr. Gerry Farrell and the Palliative Care staff for their care and compassion given to Miller.
The family will receive visitors from 7-9 pm on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 with a Royal Canadian Legion service to be held at 6:30 pm, both at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville; from where the funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 with Rev. Douglas A. Pilsworth officiating. Reception to follow at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 16, Second Street, Pictou. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers Donations in his memory may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Unit. Interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens, Sylvester at a later date.
