Passed peacefully away after a short illness at the Masonic Park Nursing Home, on Sunday, July 1st, 2012, Nina Lucretia Victoria Blackwood (nee Davis), in her 96th year. Predeceased by her husband Albert George in 2000, daughter Bernice Thistle 1999, grandson Terry Blackwood 1989 and infant son Eric; her three brothers and two sisters. Leaving to mourn three sons: Don (Sandra) of St. John’s, Guy (Genevieve Levasseur) of Ottawa, ON, and Harold (Patti Jennings) of Sault Ste. Marie, ON; four daughters: Geraldine of Mount Pearl, Doreen Acton (Jim) of Calgary, AB., Jeannette (Bill Kennedy) of St. John’s, and Joanne Driscoll (Wally) of Chamberlains; son-in-law Allan Thistle of Tors Cove; 16 grandchildren: Jeff Thistle (Karen) , Scott Thistle (Marion), Paul Thistle (Rhonda), Craig Blackwood (Anne), Carolyn Norberg (Chris), Tracy Norberg, Catherine Blackwood, Jodi Blackwood (Dennis Roberts), Paul Blackwood (Shelly), Aaron Blackwood (Natasha), Mark Blackwood, Adam Blackwood, Andrew Winter (Lacy O’Connell), Hillary Winter, Stephen Driscoll and Sarah Driscoll; great-grandchildren Melissa Thistle, Rebecca Thistle, Samantha Blackwood, Simon Roberts, Lucy Blackwood, Spencer Roberts ; sisters-in-law Norma Blackwood, Elvie Burke (Glen), Ivy Davis; Leaving as well a large circle of relatives and friends. A special thank you to the caregivers at St Patrick’s Mercy Home, Masonic Park Nursing Home and the Health Sciences Centre. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday. Funeral Service to be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 5th, 2012, from Barrett’s Chapel. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation. Please visit www.barretts.ca to sign the memorial guest book.
