David William Edwards October 9, 1918 - June 4, 2008 The family of David William Edwards regrets to announce his passing during a visit to Kamloops in his 90th year. Dad was born in a sod house in Reist, Alberta. He joined the Canadian army during WWII and served with the Ordnance Corps in various locations across Canada. He married our mother, Kathleen Court in 1944 and they were married for 59 years. He loved to fish and hunt around Kamloops and built cabins at Duffy and Johnson lakes with the help of the family friends which we all enjoyed for many years. Our family moved to Victoria in 1964 where dad began his many years of saltwater fishing in and around Vancouver Island. Dad served over 35 years with the Department of National Defence both in Kamloops and Victoria. He was a member of the War Amps of Canada currently serving as President of the Victoria Chapter, Royal Canadian Legion, and a Charter Member of the Esquimalt Anglers Association. He never hesitated to help friends and neighbors with their projects and loved to tinker in his many workshops. Dave was predeceased by his wife Kay in 2003, parents Ernest and Ethel Edwards, brothers Charlie, Ken and Jack, sister Anne and brother-in-law Terry Court. He will forever be lovingly remembered by daughters Christine Anderson (Brian Patterson), Linda Fox (Herb) and Bev Dwyer; grandchildren Marc (Renee) Anderson, Paula Anderson (Dennis Crawford), Scott Fox, Coleen (Bill) Fremmerlid, Carly (Rupert) Inkpen and Brad (Sara) Dwyer; great-grandchildren Rees and Kieran Anderson, Shamus Anderson and Matthew Kereiff and Taylor Crawford, Kaitlyn Fremmerlid, Lydia, James and Sophie Inkpen. Also survived by his brother Dan Edwards and sister-in-law Joan Court and many nieces and nephews. We would like to thank Dr. Tony Grewal for his years of caring for dad, the doctors and nurses of RIH during his last days and the War Amps and Veteran's Affairs for their many years of support and friendship. Mom and Dad enjoyed many family vacations and Disneyland with all the kids and grandkids was a highlight of his life. Thank you Dad for the terrific life you gave us girls. Donations may be made in dad's memory to the War Amps of Canada. Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. in the Schoening Funeral Chapel, 513 Seymour Street. On-line condolences may be expressed at www.schoenings.com Service arrangements entrusted to Schoening Funeral Service, telephone 374-1454.
