On Thursday, 6 November 2008, at the Kings County Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness and surrounded by his family, the death occurred of Michael Joseph (Mickey) MacDonald of Newport, a veteran of the Second World War, in his 89th year. He was predeceased by his wife, Marguerite (nee Sharkey). Visiting hours were held at St. George's Roman Catholic Church, St. Georges, on Friday, 7 November, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., with a legion service at 6:45. The funeral service will be held at St. Georges at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, 8 November 2008. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the King's County Memorial Hospital Equipment Fund or to the St. Georges' Cemetery Fund.
