Charles Lawrence (Larry) Perrier

Charles Lawrence (Larry) Perrier

Passed on: July 2nd, 2012

Passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 2nd, 2012 while listening to Mozart's piano concertos at his residence in Riverside Albert on The Bay of Fundy, New Brunswick. Born November 17th, 1929 in Buchans Junction, NL, Larry is survived by his brothers Ron in Nicholsville and Sam (Joyce) in Goulds, and by many nieces and nephews. He will especially be missed by his niece Tina (John) Barton Moncton, New Brunswick. Predeceased by his parents Charles Perrier & Cassie Benoit Perrier, sisters Sadie Lehr, Millie Young, Cecilia & Cora Perrier, brothers Max, Stanley, Wallace, Cliffie & Mattie.
Larry lived for most of his life at his cabin on the north shore of Red Indian Lake near Buchans, where he worked for many years at Asarco's mining and mineral exploration operations. He was a passionate and ardent reader of the Humanities, especially History and the Classics. His friends remember him as a brilliant storyteller, an unmatched culinarian, a kind master to his dogs, and a lover of classical music.
" . . .The makers of literature are those who have seen and felt the miraculous interestingness of the universe. If you have formed literary taste . . . your life will be one long ecstasy of denying that the world is a dull place . ."
- Arnold Bennett
Few if any shared Larry's depth of literary taste, and the world is indeed a duller place without him. He was a wonderful Uncle and a special friend to many. During the filming of a Land & Sea feature titled "Lawrence of the Lake," Larry quoted Henry David Thoreau: "Make yourself rich by making your wants few." By that measure, as well as by a measure of his intelligence and spirit, Larry's life was rich indeed - and more meaningful to his friends and family than most others they know.
Special thanks to Austin Alyward, Larry Farrell & Pat Perrier Chase for your visits with Larry in the last weeks of his life. A short celebration of Larry's life will be held at a later date.
