Donald Stevens

STEVENS, DONALD (DON) MILLS - It is with love and the celebration of a life well lived that we announce the death of Donald Mills Stevens (Don). In his life, Don inspired many, with his dedication to family, friends and the many young people he coached in little league and minor hockey. This truly incredible man has inspired generations of individuals to know the value of teamwork, sportsmanship and hard work – all qualities that he knew they would take from the field or rink to their everyday lives. Don was born in Saint John on April 12, 1935. He attended St Vincent’s Boys School and upon completion, began a 23 year career at NB Publishing. In later years he worked for 25 years with District 8. He was also an entrepreneur, sharpening skates from his basement workshop. Don began his life in the South end of Saint John, moving to Loch Lomond as a young teen. It is there he met the love of his life, Mary Ann Fuller (Ann). They married and close to 54 years later found themselves surrounded by five children, Sue-Ellen (Ron), Danny (Laura), Tony (Dawn), Andrew (Kim) and Jill (Robin) and grandchildren, Amanda (Henk), Travis, Caitlyn, Carley, Vanessa, Sherry, Michael, Nicole, Devon, Makalah and Sophia and great grandchildren, William and Elijah. Don will be remembered for the thousands of hours he gave of himself volunteering and caring for his family and friends and for his positive outlook on life. His name will bring a smile to those he has touched.
