We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Kaye McNeil at the age of 89, on Dec. 31, 2009.
Born in Sydney Mines, N.S., Kaye spent most of her life there having moved to Windsor, ON., six years ago with her family.
Kaye is survived by her daughter, Shirley and husband Louis Clarke; her son, John and wife Paula; granddaughter, Lori and husband John Dobrowolsky and grandson, Christopher McNeil. She is survived by two great-grandsons, Nelson and Jack; brother, Louis, Berwick, N.S.; and also many nieces and nephews.
Kaye was predeceased by her parents, John and Margaret (nee McCormick) MacNeil, her husband, Michael Joseph ‘Joe’ McNeil (1975), her brothers, Alex, James, Russell, Clarence, Jackie and Cyril, two sisters, Celia Campbell and Marguerite Myers.
Kaye was very active in her lifetime. She was a 50-year member of Branch 08 Legion Ladies Division, Syndey Mines, a 25-year member of the Syndey Mines Seniors Pensioners Club and a 25-year member of the Memory Lane Fun Band.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Sydney Mines.
Kaye had a great smile and a laugh for every one she met. She will be thoroughly missed by her family and friends.
Kaye has been cremated and a memorial mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, Sydney Mines, N.S., on Friday, May 28, 2010 at 10 a.m.
The family would like to thank the staff of Heron Terrace for their wonderful care and compassion for our dear mother.
