Irene Margret (Jones) McPherson passed away at Moose Jaw's Pioneer Lodge, where she had resided for the last five years, on Sunday, January 3, 2010 at the age of 95 years. She was born in Yorkton, Sask. on December 14, 1914 and was raised and educated at Elfros, Sask. Irene and Donald Angus McPherson of Wadena were married at Elfros on November 1, 1935 They farmed from the time they were married until 1953 when they moved to Aylsham, Sask. to operate the Co-op store. After many years at the Aylsham Co-op they semi-retired to British Columbia where Donald passed away in 1989, Irene was also predeceased by her only sibling, Edna, in 1977. In 1991 Irene moved to Moose Jaw and had lived here since. She is survived by two daughters and two sons: Sandra (Edgar) Brin, Moose Jaw; Gail (Douglas) Lewicki, Lethbridge; Douglas (Viola) McPherson, Regina; and Ross (Marlene) McPherson, Aylsham, SK. Irene is also survived by nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Pioneers Lodge, 1000 Albert St., Moose Jaw, S6H 2Y2. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
