Gerard Roy
ROY, GERARD - Gerard H. Roy, 78, passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at his residence in Dieppe following a brief illness. Born July 15, 1933 in Moncton, he was the son of the late Pius and Eleonore (Lavoie) Roy. Gerry was a retired administrator with Air Canada, a veteran of the Korean War, a 4th degree member Knights of Columbus, a member of Club Boishébert, the Air Force Club, the Sunny Brae Legion, past president and past secretary-treasurer of the Legion. He is survived by his son, Michael; his former wife and close friend, Shirley Roy (née Merithew) both of Hanover, ON, and his adopted sister, Bertha Pecile (Tony) of Vancouver, BC.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900). Visiting hours Tuesday from 7 to 9 pm and Wednesday from noon until departure (12:50 pm). The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Bernard’s R.C. Church, 43 Botsford Street, Moncton, on Wednesday, July 11 at 1 pm, Father Allison Carroll officiating. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe. In memory of Gerry, a contribution to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated. The Royal Canadian Legion will hold a service of remembrance Tuesday evening at 6:50 pm from the funeral home.
