Earl William Haggerty - 84, of Centreville, Kings County, passed away Monday, July 9, 2012 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Mountain Front, Kings County, he was a son of the late William and Frances (Jess) Haggerty. He was a farmer and had worked with Reg Foley for 26 years and then with Hostess Foods for 21 years, retiring in 1991. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, the former Eleanor Harvey; a daughter, Anita (Richard) Brooks, Hammonds Plains; a son, Byrian (Mary), Centreville; four sisters, Ethel Harvey, Steam Mill; Esther (Ralph) Houghton, Centreville; Winnie Rolston, Ontario; Alice (Myles) Olmstead, Mountain Front; two brothers, Bronson (Barbara), Waterville; Clifford, Alberta; five grandchildren, Aimee and Natalie Brooks, Christopher, Amanda and William Haggerty; niece, Marie Harvey, New Minas, as well as many other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Rae, Lloyd and John. There was no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2012 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Thelma McLeod officiated. Burial took place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
