Mary C. Maxwell
THANK YOU !
"Mary C. Maxwell"
A sincere thank you to relatives, friends, old neighbours and co-workers who dropped off food, sent cards, emails and online condolences; and to those who called with kind words about our Mom and to express sympathies. We also thank those who made memorial donations in Mom’s name and to each and every one of you who attended the reception to celebrate Mom’s life and to honour her passing. While we all may not have had an opportunity to speak with each of you, your gesture and presence did not go unnoticed by any of us. We are also appreciative of those who travelled long distance to be here with us. Our Mom would have been so humbled to know you stopped by, or took time out of your lives to pause and acknowledge her. For that we are so grateful. The funeral reception was wonderful; at times very loud, lots of chatter and smiles, sharing of memories and old stories – Mom would have loved that! It was also nice for our own children to come to know how well thought of their grandmother was and to see that she had a made a lot of good friends, neighbours and acquaintances over the years. In today’s hectic and ever-changing world, it is good to pause once and a while to reflect upon who we are, where we come from, and how we got here. Mothers have big influences here. And as only Mom could be, although she was often critical of our healthcare system, she had nothing but kind words for the nurses on 5 East at Northside General who cared for her in those last few weeks. We’d also like to thank Mom’s long- time physician, Dr. Mary Hutchinson for her care over many years. And to Dr. Douglas Kohlsmith, who cared for Mom during the last few years and days of her life: When Mom says “That Kohlsmith is a nice man and a good doctor”, nothing else need be said. Except to add that his thoroughness, bedside manner and guidance under uncertainty were exemplary. And to Mr. Peter Walsh of W.J. Dooley Funeral Services – thanks again.
Sincerely, Geraldine, Adeline, Larry and Kenny.
