David Hanson, 64, of Albert Bridge, passed away July 13, 2012, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Born on December 18, 1947, in Sydney, he was the son of the late Charles and Eileen (MacDonald) Hanson.
David had worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator with R. B. Ferguson Construction until he joined the maintenance crew with CBU where he worked up until his illness.
David is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen (Wells); his daughter, Janet Hanson of Mira; and sons David (Shauna) Hanson of Sydney and Donald (Tracey) Hanson of Mira; and grandchildren Meagan, Corey, Brittany, Jadyn and Taylor.
David enjoyed fishing, playing horseshoes, darts & a good game of cards with friends & family. He spent many hours tending to his garden with his wife Kathleen by his side.
David was also survived by his Aunt Vonnie; sisters Mildred, Debbie, & Charlene (Chuck); as well as brothers Guy, (Diane), Trevor (Patricia), Dannie, Roddie (Diane), Patti, Walter; & sister-in-law Frances as well as many nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by his brothers, Charles, Beaton and Alden.
Visitation for the late David Hanson will be held at S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, on Sunday July 15, 2012 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Monday July 16, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Foundation or the Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
