It is with great sadness, that we the family announce, the sudden passing of Hilda McCormick which occurred Thursday, July, 12th 2012 at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in North Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Emma (Russell) Gouthro.
Hilda was a member of St. Pius X Church and a member of the parish CWL. She worked with Northside Home Care for 30 years. To Hilda, family was everything and she enjoyed the time spent with her brothers and sisters and her loving husband Michael. Hilda enjoyed the outdoors and loved the time spent camping with her family. Hilda loved cooking and could be seen daily walking to town.
She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years Michael McCormick; one daughter Michele (Donald), Sydney Mines; two sons, Michael (Joanne), Sydney Mines and Jerrold (Sherry), Florence; four sisters, Theresa (Tommy) Gillis, Ontario, Leona (Kevin) Hennessey, North Sydney, Jenny Silver and Sister Marcella Gouthro, both of Halifax; one brother Mike (Beth) Gouthro and six grandchildren, Bret McCormick, Calgary, Natasha Nichol, Florence, Francis (Ashley) McCormick, Haley McCormick, D.J. Walker and Caitlynn Walker all of Sydney Mines; one great-grandson Gabriel McCormick.
Besides her parents, Hilda was predeceased by one brother Frank Gouthro.
In accordance with Hilda’s wishes there will be no visitation. A mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, July, 16th at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church with Fr. Thomas John officiating.
Arrangements are under the care & direction of Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines.
