McCabe, H. Bruce, Professional Engineer – 78, Truro passed away July 13, 2012 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born January 8, 1934 in New Glasgow, he was the son of the late Vincent and Helen (Fraser) McCabe. Bruce worked for Boeing Airplane Co., Fairey Aviation Canada and for 27 years served as president of H. Bruce McCabe and Associates, a local consulting engineering firm. He was a member of Truro Rotary Club, the Association of Professional Engineers, the American Society of Heating and Refrigeration Engineers and also a member of the National Fire Protection Association. Bruce was active in community affairs including the Truro Arts Society, the Colchester Historical Society and the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26. He was also a member of the Zion United Baptist Church. His hobbies included painting, carving, dancing and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Audrey (Spicer); brother, Reginald (Beverly); nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Marjorie McCabe. He was predeceased by his son, Bradley Vincent; brother, Fraser. No visitation by request. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 18, at 2 pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Pastor Brian Johnston officiating. Interment in Bible Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Zion United Baptist Church.
