Ignace’s actions on her journey of life were always directed towards being finally embraced forever with God. This occurred on Saturday, July 14, at the Glace Bay Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Ignace was born in Glace Bay, and lived in the Bridgeport area until marriage. She then resided near the town centre. She was a daughter of the late Iggie (1976) and Mary (Francis) (1975) McIntyre. She was also predeceased by three siblings, Bernice (Columbus) (1978), John (Red) (1985) (Joan Boutilier) and Joe (1999) (Audrey Ferguson).
Ignace began each day with the Rosary. Her demure manner always allowed for a peaceful conclusion. She relished happy times with family, friends and small groups, shown by her contagious laugh and body language. She attended local schools, receiving her elementary education at Bridgeport School then her secondary years at St. Anne’s. One year was spent at St. Joseph’s Convent Boarding School in Mabou. She then graduated from St. Martha’s School of Nursing in Antigonish, where she received her C.N.A certificate. She worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Glace Bay, for over 25 years. She was an active member of the CWL. Serving as president for several terms. She also served on the Diocesan level as a co-person. She was a recipient of the Maple Leaf which is a special service pin. She was a eucharistic minister for many years as well. She was very involved in different work for her community.
