Knud Henriksen

HENRIKSEN, Knud “Joe” – 91, of the Northumberland Veterans Wing, Pictou, and formerly of Pictou and Stellarton, passed away July 15, 2012 in the Veteran’s Wing. Born in Denmark, he was a son of the late Henrik & Rosa (Neilsen) Henriksen. He was a veteran of WWII, and was a carpenter at the Pictou Shipyards. He loved to tinker and fix things. Knud was a member of the CB Radio Club in Truro, enjoyed playing bingo at the Veterans Wing, and was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 16, Pictou. He loved spending time with his family and traveling to Florida. Knud is survived by his wife, Doris (Jamison); daughters, Diana Wakeham, Fredericton, N.B. ; Carolyn Johnston, Spruce Grove, Alberta; Linda Henderson, Pictou; Charlotte (Barry) Hooley, Calgary, Alberta; Janet (Raymond) MacKenzie, Scotsburn; sons, Joseph and David, both of Wasagah Beach, Ontario; 26 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by daughter, Nancy Knowles; son, Knud Jr.; brother, John. Cremation has taken place. At Knud’s request there will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held today, Wednesday at 3 PM in McLaren Funeral Home Chapel, Pictou with Rev. Aidan Kingsbury officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northumberland Veterans Wing, Pictou.
