Frank Abbott

ABBOTT, FRANK EDMOND - 1917 - 2012 - Frank E. Abbott, 94, of Moncton, with close family at his side, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, July 18, 2012. Born in Chance Harbour, NB, he was the son of the late Isaac and Annie (Shea) Abbott. During World War II he travelled to Montreal to work in the war plants for five years and then returned to Chance Harbour in 1945 to own and operate Abbott’s Grocery with his wife, Mary. In 1953, Frank and his family relocated to Moncton to open and manage the first CAA office on Mountain Road in the Moncton area up until his retirement in 1985. Frank truly loved the outdoors, fly fishing for trout and taking scenes of Albert County and Moncton’s Centennial Park, using his camera to capture this beauty. While in his 90’s, Frank learned to dance, excel at darts, play a new guitar and write poetry for his family and friends. He was an avid supporter of the AHL franchise for over 14 years and a faithful fan of his Toronto Maple Leafs hockey team. He embraced each new day with excitement and enthusiasm. Frank will be sadly missed by his daughters, Linda Abbott-Watt (Brian Peterson) of Riverview and Jane Abbott (Dexter Ramsay) of Pickering, ON; grandchildren, Aaron Watt (Tracey Cooke) of Moncton and James Watt (Erin Sherman) of Riverview; precious great grandchildren, Keirsten and Connor; sister, Mary MacDonald of Saint John. Frank made People’s Park Tower his home for the last seven years and so cherished his many dear friends there as a second family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Mary (Kamel) Abbott (April 2004) and brother, Arthur.
