Paul Maurice Therrien

Born In: British Columbia, Canada

Passed in: British Columbia, Canada

THERRIEN 1943-2008 Paul Maurice Therrien passed quietly and peacefully on Monday, September 8, 2008 after a brief stay in the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice Home, with his wife Joan and daughter Allison at his side. Paul was born in Paradise Hill, Saskatchewan on January 14, 1943 and lived there and attended elementary school until he reached high school age, when he moved to Prince Albert to live with his brother and sister-in-law, Don and Cloey Regnier and to attend St. Marys College. It was in Prince Albert where he met his sweetheart, Joan (nee Gendall). Paul and Joan were married in 1965 and moved to Edmonton, where their children Chad and Allison were born. In 1972, they moved to Kamloops. Paul started work at Balco Industries (now Tolko Industries), Heffley Creek in October 1972 and retired in October 2003. After his retirement, he was able to pursue his hobby of playing with wood - building lawn decorations, his specialty being miniature grain elevators and his masterpiece was a miniature chuckwagon that decorates their property at Caravans West, Shuswap Lake. Also after retirement, Paul and Joan were able to travel with their RV and spend relaxing time at Caravans West. Paul was always ready for a game of crib, 31 or Yahtzee and enjoyed playing those games right up until his stay in hospital. Paul also enjoyed many, many camping and fishing trips with our extended family and friends at Knouff Lake and Badger Lake. Pauls greatest joys were his grandchildren, Jeremy, Jaida and Evan. Because Jeremy was the oldest, he was able to show Jeremy how to use various tools and also how to squish a plum using a vice. He is survived by wife, Joan, son Chad (Laurie), daughter Allison (Phil) Tarlit, and grandchildren Jeremy, Jaida and Evan; sisters Rachel Matthies and Jeannette Haluska, sister-in-law, Cloey Regnier, mother-in-law Caroline Gendall, sister-in-law Debbie (Wayne) McGowan, brothers-in-law Don (Marian) Gendall and Len (Brenda) Gendall. Also surviving Paul are his many nieces and nephews and his many friends in BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan. Paul was predeceased by his parents, Henri and Exilda Therrien, brothers Shorty, Ralph, Donald and Roger, and sister Henriette. Prayers will be recited at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 255 Nicola Street on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at 7:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 P.M. in the Cathedral on Friday, September 12, 2008 with Father Derrick Cameron, Celebrant. Donations in Pauls memory may be made to the Kamloops Food Bank, Box 1513 STN Main, Kamloops, BC, V2C 6L8, in lieu of flowers.
