(Born May 11, 1920 in Kings Cove, Bonavista Bay. Died July 21, 2012.) — Passed peacefully into eternal rest at the L.A. Miller Centre in St. John’s NL, surrounded by his loving family. Co-founder with his wife Ruby of Brown’s Store on Portugal Cove Road, St. John’s NL. Predeceased by his wife Ruby (August 21, 2009), parents Wilson and Bessie (Elizabeth) Brown, sister and brother-in-law Megan and Hector Carter and brother-in-law Felix Lawton. Also predeceased by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law George and Nellie Higdon of Scotland, Hayward and Fanny Higdon, Gerald and Helen Higdon, Muriel Higdon, Isaac Stanley Higdon, Raymond Higdon, Lizzie and Ernest Higdon, Cecil and Florence Higdon, Ethel Higdon, Sarah Higdon, Roland and Vera Pye. Leaving to mourn his loving children, sons Keith (Donna), Dwight (Glenda) and daughter Janice and his grandchildren Christopher and Shelly Brown, and Ian and Sarah Brown. Also leaving to mourn his loving sister, Daisy Lawton and his sister-in-law Elva Higdon as well as a large number of nephews and nieces in Newfoundland, Scotland, Ireland, United States and Canada, as well as many friends and business acquaintances. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Sunday, July 22, 2012 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Cremation to follow. Funeral service to take place from St. Augustine’s Anglican Church, Westerland Road on Monday, July 23rd, 2012 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Forest Road Columbarium.
