Eric LeBlanc

LeBLANC, ERIC - Eric LeBlanc, 80, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at the Veterans’ Health Centre, early Sunday morning, July 22, 2012 at the Veterans’ Health Centre where he resided. Eric was born in Moncton on September 29, 1931, to Gérald and Jeanne (Bastarache) LeBlanc. He served in the Merchant Navy, the Canadian Army from 1950-1954 where he was sent to fight in the Korean War (and for which he was awarded the Korea Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal for Korea and the United Nations Services Medal) and in the Royal Canadian Air Forces from 1954 to 1959. After his career in the Canadian Armed Forces, he worked for the CNR in Moncton and Alberta until his retirement following a stroke in 1985. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, a member of the Canadian Veterans of the Korea Veterans Association of Canada and a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree, Council 1310. Eric will be sadly missed by his daughter, Shirley Latchford and her husband Allan of Edmonton, AB; three grandchildren: Brian and his daughter Cheyanna; Suzanna Patterson, her husband Trent and their three children: Carly, Cassidy and Clay; Jessica, her spouse Chris Colby and their daughter, Emma. He also leaves three sisters: Phyllis Bourque (Ola) and Imelda Bourque (late Marcel), both of Cocagne, and Pauline LeBlanc (Edward) of Notre-Dame; one brother, Robert (Carmen) of Moncton, and by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters: Bernice Hayter (late Jack) and Yvette Goguen (Normand).
