Lynn Wiles April 24, 1957 - September 15, 2008 It is with the saddest regrets that we announce the passing of our dear friend, Tara Lynn Wiles, who was taken from us on the afternoon of September 15, 2008. Tara was predeceased by her mother May Ruth Porter, her father William Thomas Wiles and stepfather Alfred C Porter. She is survived by her closest friends: Rita Zagorski, Thea Matanis, Lani-Mae Cook and Dorothy Cook (who Tara lovingly referred to as her Second mother) Valerie Scott and Andy Hlatky all of who are from Kamloops, BC. Tara is also survived by Dave and Cathy Porter of Chilliwack, BC, numerous nieces and nephews, as well her roommate Pat Shaw from Calgary, AB. Tara was born in Vancouver, BC on April 24, 1957 and spent her early to adolescent years in the Langley / Surrey area. After the passing of her father (William), Tara and her mother (May) moved to Rock Creek, BC. She spent many of her adult years in Rock Creek, running her own barbershop business as well managing the Prospector Pub, before she moved to Kamloops in 1991. Although Tara didn’t have any of her own children, the children of the Grandview Terrace neighborhood where Tara resided, fondly remembered her as the Halloween / Christmas Lady. Tara delighted them with numerous treats and spectacular decorations, which were known throughout the city of Kamloops. Tara was a very giving person who generously donated to several charities, on a regular basis. Tara’s off beat sense of humor, and her ability to “ Shop till you drop” as well her kind and giving ways will be sadly missed by all who knew her. A Memorial Service to celebrate Tara’s life will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 19, 2008 at the Kamloops United Church, 421 St. Paul St. Kamloops. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tara’s memory may be made to: The Alzheimer Society of BC, and The Canadian Diabetes Association ON. Cremation Arrangements have been entrusted to Personal Alternative Funeral Services. (250) 554-2324
