It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph Michael Sutherland announces his passing. He passed away peacefully in his 77th year on July 23, 2012 at Glace Bay Hospital after a long battle with heart disease.
Son of the late Theresa (McCuish) and Leo Sutherland. Dear son-in-law of the late Madie and Arthur McInnis.
Beloved husband of 56 years to Betty (McInnis). Loving father to Joe, Keenan (Cheri), Tanyia (Jim) Cavers and predeceased by daughter, Roxanne (Paul) Mondoux. Dear brother to Barbara (predeceased, Roy) Long, George (Sharron) Sutherland, Liz (Bill) White, Shirley Pentecost predeceased by brothers, Leo (Edna) Sutherland and Gordon (Shella) Sutherland.
Joe will be fondly remembered by in-laws, Agatha (Jackie) Kelloway, Della (Earl, predeceased) Brewer, Joe (Kaye) McInnis, Harvey McInnis and predeceased by Arthur and Sonny McInnnis. Cherished “Grandph” “Gramps” of Crystal (Bob) Stratton, Nicole Sutherland, Shantel Deneault, Lauren Jacob and Ethan Cavers, Alison (Kevin) Petch, Sean and Chris Rotmark. Proud Great-grandpa to Micheal, Sara, Hailey, Emily, Sophie, Jacob, Riley and baby Haylee. He will be missed by many friends and relatives.
In honouring Joe’s wishes there will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, Glace Bay, on Friday, July 27, 2012 at 3 p.m. The Rev Daniel Boudreau will be officiating. A celebration of Joe’s life will follow in the church hall after mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Family Cemetery Glace Bay.
