Harold "Bud" Titus

TITUS, HAROLD "BUD" - Harold Grant “Bud” Titus, loving husband of Edna (Flooks) Titus, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Harold (Bud) Titus was born in South Devon, New Brunswick, a son of Ralph Titus and Nellie (Grant) Titus. He attended the Devon Superior School and graduated from Fredericton High School in 1947. He attended the University of New Brunswick where he received a Bachelor of Arts in 1951, Bachelor of Education in 1952, Post Graduate Diploma in Education in 1974 and Masters of Education in 1983. Bud had an interesting career as a teacher and principal. He was a teacher at Simonds High School (1952 – 1967), Vice-Principal at Simonds Junior High (1967 – 1970), Vice-Principal at Bayside Junior High (1970 – 1975), Principal at Prince Charles School (1975 – 1987), Director at Simonds Night School (1963– 1975) and Director at Saint John Summer School (1963 – 1975). He coached Simonds’ interscholastic hockey team (1955 – 1967) and also taught English as a second language and conversational French. Since his retirement in 1987 and up until 1995 he tutored students at risk. In his younger years he enjoyed playing baseball and hockey. Bud was a member of the Forest Hill Baptist Church, Saint John East. He enjoyed bowling, music and writing. Besides his devoted wife Edna of 58 years, he is survived by his loving daughter Kathy Rodgerson (Peter “Skipper”) of Saint John; daughter-in-law Janice Titus of Hampton; brother Frederick Titus (Thelma) of Fredericton; sisters Lillian Wood of Ludlow, NB and Alice Billings (Owen) of Fredericton; several nieces and nephews and many friends. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his son Grant Titus and brother Cecil Titus. “When we as Christians die, we go straight into the presence of Christ – straight to that place, straight to that mansion in Heaven to spend eternity with God. We are simply changing our address!”
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Forest Hills Baptist Church on Friday, July 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Fernhill Cemetery.
